Studio Policies

Procedures

Schedule:
The schedule is determined by Mr. Hintz and the Faculty of Christ the King Lutheran School. Students are dismissed from their classroom at their lesson time and escorted by me to and from their lesson. The lesson times are chosen to best support your child's education, so they don't miss critical classes in their school day.

Piano Method:
I use Faber & Faber's "Piano Adventures" series for all of my beginning and early intermediate students. This series has a quality repertoire, a logical structure for introducing music theory, and is easy to follow. Additional material will be given on a case by case basis, but all students will be required to work out of these method books.

Weekly Expectations:
Each week, I will be grading your students. These grades will allow me to focus my teaching where it is needed for each student, provide you, the parent, with a clear view of how your child is progressing, and give my students a metric to work against. My grading system will assess the following things:

  • All required materials are present at the lesson (books, assignment notebook, pencil)
  • Completed Practice Log - signed by parents
  • Demonstrates comprehension of  the assigned Music Technique and Theory
  • Shows improvement on assigned repertoire from the previous week

Fees & Attendance

Tuition:
My studio will operate on a tuition of $720 per student for the entire school year and will be billed on a monthly basis of $80. The school year has been set up to guarantee each student receives 30 lessons, a quarterly after school whole studio class, and two performance opportunities, one at the Christmas Program as well as a spring recital. This is a discounted rate I am only offering to Christ the King students. My standard rate for all other students is $30 per lesson.

Payment Method:
All student families are required to set up an automatic monthly tuition payment at the time of registration.

Absence:
Your child is expected to attend school on a regular basis, and therefore I will expect the same. Paying your tuition will reserve their lesson time whether your child is there or not. Because these lessons are happening during the school day, Principal Hintz and the Faculty have set up a schedule that will best fit their day and your child's education. Disrupting that schedule would be disrespectful to the faculty who already have gone out of their way to accommodate this piano studio. I have included a few make-up days in my schedule and reserve to distribute them on a case by case basis.

Make-up Lessons:
I have included make-up days in my schedule and reserve the right to distribute them at my discretion on a case by case basis.
